I was given one of these today at work and had a question about it.

I've read that in time of production that it went from a rubber cover to a plastic one, is there a way to tell from the serial numbers or something as to wich cover this is ? :dontknow:

Was free, couldn't pass it up. If anything it will make a nice spare ball.

here is an easy way to tell. when you get it drilled to fit you if it smells like a stock car peeling out then its rubber

On some of the older rubber balls you could smell the rubber if you put your nose close. If not you can have the hardness checked, the plastic should be harder. I have 2 Black beauties, My Father n law's 15# and my wife's 11# I have used the 15# ball for spares, and it work well. It doesn't carry well in the pocket though.

i have one too, and i think it actually carries decent, you just have to be extremely accurate with it. I nearly had a 183 triplicate on wednesday with it, stood 13 right and just threw it straight up five board and let it walk into the pocket

i found a crown gold (or gold crown whatever) already drilled and engraved with E.W.F. serial # is EW6660 and i was thinking about putting it on ebay. is a gold crown black beauty worth more than one that does not have that logo?
