View Full Version : What's the history of C300?

I recently picked up a Cuda/C Pearl and Super Cuda/C Pearl. I'm about to get a Pulse and probably a Blue Dot. The Cudas are fantastic balls. I didn't bowl when they came out, but I'm glad I have them now!

Watching videos of the PBA tour in the 90s, it seems like C300 and Brunswick dominated. It makes me wonder what the history of C300 is. I know at some point they were bought out by Ebonite, but why?

I also know that Radical Bowling founder Phil Cardinale was there and he invented the ceramicore balls. Didn't he and the other guys started 900 Global after the buyout. I think I remember reading once that the company put a lot of stock into the EPX T1 and the ball was a total flop, precipitating it's downfall.

Anyway, I'd love to hear from some of you bowling history buffs.

Thanks

I don't know the whole Columbia 300 history, but I know for 2 decades they had probably the 2 best bowling balls by far. In the 70's it was the Yellow Dot (bleeder), and in the 80's the Black U-Dot. They followed up the U-Dot with a lot of other good balls too.

I always loved and used Columbia balls until probably 10 years ago when it seemed like I was drilling balls that just weren't very good.

i have always liked my piranha/c solid (blue) and pearl (jade green)
i think they made some other ceramic core balls called the stingray line or something like that

I hope the stingray/c wasn't any good. I passed on it when I picked up the pink hammer and a couple of Ti Boss'. I just didn't know anything about it, but I saw ceramicore and thought hmm...

Hate to tell you, but you passed on a good one. Columbia couldn't miss throughout the 90's. Things seemed to go south when Ebonite bought them out. However, with the rarity of the Pink Hammer, I understand your situation. You will love the Boss' Shot my first 800 series with a Tour Boss. First Adult league 300 with Black U-Dot, best bowling investment I ever made. Great balls!!
