Re: Looking for a good low end ball

this is the hardest spot for me to fill and be happy with. I don't like urethane and almost every entry level ball on the dry are to strong.I tried a lot of them and I think your best bet would be a storm tropical .

The most overlooked ball for drier conditions is the Columbia 300 Scout Reactive. It will give you more with less.

Re: Looking for a good low end ball

The last 2 low end bowling balls I tried were a tropical storm and the ascent pearl from motiv heard a lot of good things about both from a lot of people but just could never make either one work.one of the coaches at the alley I bowl at is always using a hectic and says it's a really good ball so I'll probably check into the graffiti tag or that

Not necessarily low end but the seismic euphoria is a great dry lane ball if you can find one.

The Track Tundra might be a good option for a drier shot.

I'm with six pack on this one you want low end I suggest the storm tropical breezeeeys. Although if you can get a slingshot that's OK too.

Tag is stronger than advertised but my Freestyle does the dry lanes much better if you prefer Motiv.

Re: Looking for a good low end ball

I've tried the tropical from storm and wasn't a big fan of it and I was really thinking about a Brunswick slingshot but they don't make it anymore and couldn't find one anywhere.and for my pitch black I do have it drilled to start up a little earlier and be more controlled but sometimes it's just to early.i decided on the roto grip hectic and I love it haven't really used any other ball since I got it except my pitch black for spares on a house shot it's pretty much all I need

Re: Looking for a good low end ball

Im stuck in the same boat on searching for a good ball that doesnt take off on broken down lanes. Right now Ive been trying to get by on the ole Track 505A ball I have but its not gonna play: I was mainly a Track User but Im willing to venture to another brand just to diversify. Ive seen some recommendations on here. But Ive been looking at a couple balls. Which would you go to?

Motiv Rebel Tank
Motiv Venom Shock
Track Tundra
Track Heat
Brunswick Fanatic BTU
Ebonite GameBreaker
Hammer Urethane Black
Hammer Urethane Purple

The venom shock is actually one of my all time favorite bowling balls but way stronger then advertised it is not for dry lanes.I got the roto grip hectic but it hooks a little more than I thought it would so if you get it drill it on the weaker side and if your looking at a black urethane the pitch black is a really good ball also the graffiti tag and roto grip hustle might be worth looking into.but if your looking for something for broken down lanes I definitely wouldn't go with the gamebreaker

Re: Looking for a good low end ball

the pitch black from storm is one of my all time favorite balls. if you don't want to go urethane because some people don't like the really or pin action with them. I had a roto grip shout with the pin out by my PAP which really kept the ball in front of me on drier lanes and still got the pin action of the reactive resin. this will make the low end ball very rolly and flare even less so if you dont have a lot of hand I wouldnt recommend it.

Re: Looking for a good low end ball

I'm wondering if most of the people posting having problems controlling/reducing the backend of the "weaker" balls are either not manipulating the drillings and/or the surfaces properly.

My normal release seems to foster stronger backends from balls that would normally considered mild, yet I have no problem finding DRILLED balls with muted backends.

I regularly use the Tropical Breeze, now Tropical Storm hybrid, the black cherry, at 4000 grit - very gradual backend on all but burnt conditions.
The Lane Masters Wasp also falls into this category (very slightly stronger overall than my beloved Visionary Blue Green Centaur); the Wasp is also a hybrid.

I recently also dulled to 4000 grit (not a large step down form its polished state) a pair of Strike Kings. Also very versatile on very light oil. Used a pin down strong drilling on them.

You want maximum control on dry lanes - drill a Blue Hammer strong - use the stock 4000 grit or take it down to 2000 grit. Still handles a ton of dry with zero overreaction. and it still hit if you have the least amount of hand.

You want a "stronger" light oil to medium-light oil ball? - try a Ride - take the surface down to 2000, 3000 or 4000 grit.

I recently wanted to fill the same hole, ended up going with a hammer rebel at the suggestion of my PSO. Drilled 90x6x30. Couldn't be happier with it playing deep angles when the heads go.

That's what I do with my roto grip hectic that I got or the place I bowl at has an out of bounds right of 5 I can't even get my no rules back from the 3 board most of the time but I can send my hectic out to the 2 board and on the burn it just snaps back since I got it the hectic has become my go to ball for a house shot or it's usually between that or my roto grip deranged
