Buy me a Soda?
Motiv GT1

I contcted Motiv about carring their line of equipment in my shop....I must say they are very easy to deal with and very friendly. I ordered a case of balls and got them in 3 days. They sent me a GT1 to throw. I drilled it 35* X 4" X 45* dual angle setup. This ball revs pretty quickly and is very smooth off the spot. One shot I threw even sent the messenger across the deck and hit the top of the 10 pin!!! Most impresive hitting power. I bowled on a sloppy house shot and it still rolled great. Take a chance here, this line of balls should catch on quickly....ball motion is very predictable. You will not be dissapointed!!

Re: Motiv GT1

My Information:Ball Speed-15/16 mph,Rev Rate-250/265 rpms
Axis Rotation:45 degrees,Axis Tilt:15 degrees,
Ball Spec Information:Core-Gear Drive,Cover-MOTIVator-T,
RG:2.47/15 lbs,Diff.0.32 15lbs,Surface Tested:100 grit with Power Gel Polish,
Color:Black Thunder Pearl,
Ball Tested Drill Specs:Pin to PAP:5 1/4" x 4 1/4",Pin above ring finger
No X-Hole
Lanes Tested On:All types of synthetics & wood.

The GT1-The cover and core combination creates more friction than the SX1
and the TX1 but less than the TR2.
The cover along with the low RG Gear Drive core gives the GT1 more hook
throughout the entire lane than SX1 & TX1 but less than the TR2.
I saw a very smooth rolling reaction from start to finish from the GT1.
The ball starts up earlier than the SX1 & TX1 with better mid-lane bite.
The GT1 clears the heads easy but turns up the revs at the mids but, makes
a very strong move off the back end, almost a skid snap.I found very minimal
over-under on most shots. Also the GT1 plays great when there is some
carrydown.

On the THS:The GT1 allowed me to open up and play the lane with a larger
swing area.On the oilier house shot the GT1 allowed me to square up a little
more to the right.Playing this area gave me great reaction off the breakpoint,
and a very nice roll to the pocket with good pin carry.

On very dry house house shots:The GT1 is way too strong for me on this shot,
I would use the SX1 on this shot.

On PBA Experience patterns and other sport patterns.
The GT1 worked best for me on the Cheetah pattern it allowed me to play the
oil line without a over reaction on the back of the pattern.
On the Scorpion pattern the GT1 worked well I could move inside a little
and use the core/cover combo to create the area I needed.
On the other PBA-X patterns,Shark,Chameleon,Viper. The GT1 worked for me but
the cover needed to be adjusted for me to play the patterns as I needed.
The only pattern that I had trouble with was the Shark pattern.Way too long
for me to get a good reaction.

Overall:This ball is a great first out of the bag ball on most house shots.
In my opinion the key for the GT1 is find the right drilling and cover
adjustment. The GT1 is a very versatile and should fit most styles.

PICTURE AND VIDEO LINKS

SURFACE PREPARATION
Grit - Factory OOB, 1000grit polish
Type (Matte, Polish, Sanded) - ^

LANE CONDITION
Length - 38' (they shortened it for the new year, yay)

Volume - 22 units
Type (Wall, Xmas Tree, Sport) - fairly flat THS, OB outside the 4 area

BALL REACTION
Length - Decent overall length, the ball gets through the heads very easily but really revs up in the midlane. Even though it's a pearl, this ball is not meant to be a skid/snap.
Back End - Very strong backend, once this ball picks up a roll, it just keeps on going. I have a higher speed and had no over/under issues on a fresh shot. Even on a pretty heavy volume shot with a polished surface it had no problem making the turn.
Overall Hook - I went with a pretty strong drilling and this ball definitely hooks. I'd have to throw it on a heavier volume tourney or sport shot to be sure, but on a pretty slick THS is definitely moved.
Midlane Read - Excellent midlane read. With the low RG this thing really revs up through the mids, but with the polished surface still gets enough length to not start up too early. It really gives me a look I haven't had with many balls in the past.
Breakpoint Shape - Even though it's a pearl it has more of a strong-arccing motion than a skid/snap. I didn't go with a longer length drilling so I'm sure you can drill it for more backend; I wanted to go with a stronger drilling. I figured I have this really aggressive ball, might as well drill it aggressive to get the most out of it.

COMMENTS
Carry - Keeps the pins low, great continuation through the pocket. Carried well on high, light, and flush shots.
Likes - Great read through the mids, stays strong even in heavier oil, didn't overreact if I got out to the dry a little early, and held just fine if I pulled it a couple boards inside. It really opened the lane up for me.
Dislikes - Hate that I waited this long to get one, other than that, none so far.

Other - I started the night throwing my Hot Sauce pearl
(drilled 4 1/2x4 also) while the GT1 was being drilled. I started the 2nd game with the GT1 not knowing what to expect so I stood on the same line as my Hot Sauce. This ball on that same line gave me a totally different look but still made it back to the pocket with even more tenacity than the sauce. It started a few feet earlier than the hot sauce, but wasn't as snappy in the backend. It just made a strong move and kept going strong through the pocket. Overall it is the perfect compliment to my Hot Sauce pearl, it's just as strong, but not as long and handles oil a little better. First game with the GT1 without ever throwing it before, and not knowing where to line up; I threw the front 9, then left a fast 8, single pin the 12th for a 277 OOB. Can't argue with those results. Looking forward to throwing more sets with it in the future.
