Finding the PAP (with industry-leading precision)

Since Phoenix Ball Balancing came up, I was looking around and found this video on how to find the PAP with industry-leading precision.

Now you need a smart phone, tripod, telephoto lens, put tracers on the ball, some $35.50 software. Once your done you will have located a players PAP to with in 1/4" of it's location.

Every method of laying out a bowling ball for drilling its gripping holes requires knowing the bowler's PAP location. Here are some tips on how to setup and use a smartphone to capture cool videos that can be used to determine the bowler's PAP with industry-leading precision.

Boy I'm behind the times, I used Don Johnsons old method of using a flexible tape and a grease pencil and nailed it.

The system is rather elaborate. The methods used now, spinner or armadillo, are just as effective.

Now you can use modern technology to determine the Positive Axis Point (PAP) on a bowling ball. No more guessing with oil rings or pieces of tape. Impress your customers with the professional, scientific service that you provide to them with Phoenix PAP Locator. This is the next best thing to having your own Super C.A.T.S.!

I agree this system is way elaborate, in less time to watch the video you could of had it done with any other system.

Some more Phoenix info about the pap:

Finding a Bowler's PAP

Find the PAP of a bowler in these easy steps.

Also this is from their webpage

Locating the PAP (Positive Axis Point)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aicFPNb0YHw
Rich Hanson shows how to locate the PAP as well as how to determine
ball speed, axis tilt and axis rotation. [3] (12/18/13)

Here's Phoenix's comment about this video:

Caution! He uses the part of the track that is closest to the fingers and thumb.
We believe that for most balls the flare starts away from the fingers and thumb
and moves toward them. To understand this, think of a ball that has ‘rolled out’.
At that point, the ball is rolling on a great circle around the ball. The ball
would have started rolling on a smaller circle (low track, medium track, high track)
and would have flared to the great circle. Notice also that the ball in the video
wobbles in the skid phase.

If you have viewed his other videos such as axis balance layout etc like Ritchies GBS you learned to ignore and move on.
