Vise IT

I need to plug & redrill a ball that has the IT system installed. How do you remove the Ball-it and Safety-Molly from the bottom?

Re: Vise IT

you might be able to drill it out with a 1/2" drill bit if not you will have to knock it out with a screwdriver

Re: Vise IT

I drill out the safety molly with an 11/16 or so bit (to make sure I get all of it), then use needle nose pliers to reach in and grab the Ball It which is now only being held in by glue, then twist it until it pops out.

Re: Vise IT

I take a chisel, and tap the ball-it with a rubber mallet. It doesn't take a hard whack to shatter it into a mess of plastic you can then vacuum out.

To get out the little plastic dot, you can center on the hole, and drill it out approx 1/2 inch.

Re: Vise IT

Drill out as much of the grey thingy as you can without hitting the white thingy. put yur thumb it* back in and mess with it and it will come out. All I would have to do is try to throw the ball once or twice and it would break lose.

Re: Vise IT

If it was installed correctly, it should be able to be drilled out using a 1/2 inch bit for the bottom part and using a bit large enough to drill out the top. You need to know the original pitches, and make sure it is centered in the hole correctly. I've never had a major issue with doing this, and have done it several times.
